Assessment

Booking an ADHD assessment can feel overwhelming. You might wonder if it’s really necessary after managing symptoms for so long. Concerns about the diagnosis, potential medications, stigma, or even just the effort of scheduling an appointment are completely normal.

However, if you do have ADHD, getting a diagnosis can be life-changing. The sooner it’s identified, the sooner you can access effective support and treatment—leading to greater balance, improved productivity, and fewer complications in the long run.

At ADHDX, we understand the challenges you may be facing. Our friendly admin team has extensive NHS and healthcare experience and is here to support you every step of the way, from booking your assessment to answering any questions you may have afterward.

Before the assessment, we’ll send you some questionnaires to complete, along with one for someone who knew you well during childhood or who knows you well now. If available, school reports or GP medical records can also be helpful. A GP referral to ADHDX is beneficial as it keeps your GP informed, especially when transitioning to a stable medication plan, allowing for seamless ongoing care through the NHS.

During the assessment, you’ll meet with an experienced, compassionate doctor who specializes in neurodiversity and ADHD. They will explore your life journey in-depth, review your questionnaires, and discuss your experiences before confirming a diagnosis. If ADHD is diagnosed, they will guide you through the next steps in management, including discussing medication options and holistic care strategies tailored to your needs.

If you’re only seeking an assessment to better understand yourself and aren’t interested in medication, that’s completely okay. Our doctors will provide you with a detailed report and guidance on self-directed activities and holistic care, empowering you to make informed choices.

Your ADHD diagnosis is personal, and you are under no obligation to share it with anyone unless you choose to. At ADHDX, our goal is to support you in taking the next steps with confidence and understanding.
